New Online Student Membership for £30
You said that affordability, community and lifelong learning was important to you. We worked on this and are delighted to introduce an Online Student Membership category. The membership, which is priced at £30 per year to make it more affordable to our qualification candidates and any student pursuing a relevant university degree around the world, will be introduced from 21st October 2025.
Our goal is to give you the best support and to provide you with a community that champions your potential. Our Online Student Membership offers you online access to all the latest news from the Brewer and Distiller International (BDI), access to recordings and presentations from our conferences and technical events, free or discounted entry to our events and discounts on short courses to help you continue your professional development. Diploma and Membership
We want to be your partner as you continue to develop and demonstrate your knowledge and skills in the industry. You wanted membership to be more affordable and we are delighted to have created the Online Student Membership.
As this requirement is new, students who have already booked their Diploma modules will be automatically given an online student membership. If you want to book from now, you will have to choose between online student (£30), full student (£50) or full membership (£150).
Online Student Membership will offer you access to a wealth of knowledge on our website including online edition of the Brewer and Distiller International (BDI), our online Library, opportunity to apply for Bursaries and access to a community of peers and mentors at our Events.
Take your learning to your work
Extended Access to Diploma and General Certificate Learning Materials
You said that you would like to have access to our learning material after you have finished your exam. We understand how this could help you as you put your knowledge gained during your General Certificate and Diploma to practice.
From now on Diploma and General Certificate candidates/completers, who are also members of the CIBD, will be given three years access to the learning materials rather than the current 90 days.This applies to anyone who has been a CIBD candidate since 2020. If you completed your qualifications since 2020 and want access to your learning materials but don’t have a current membership all you need to do is renew your membership and we’ll organise the rest.
The other great aspect of this change is that these members will have access to updated learning materials. Each year the learning content is reviewed and updated where necessary to reflect changes in the industry. So keeping an eye on your learning materials is an important part of your Continuing Professional Development at no additional cost apart from continued membership.

Members' Pricing for Short Courses and More
You asked us to make digestible educational content and Continuous Professional Development at front and centre of our membership. We will now give our members a 20% discount on all Short Courses and Set For Success, our General Certificate (in Brewing / Distilling) exam preparation programme.
Our Short Courses cover various topics within the brewing and distilling industry and offer on-demand learning in a low cost, easy to digest and interactive format.
