Irish Section

We aim to support you wherever in the world you are. Our eight sections are run by network of volunteers who host educational and networking events through the year and provide you with opportunity to develop deeper connections.

Chair

Sheila Kenny

Studied at University College Cork and completed a PhD in Food and Nutritional Sciences.

Over 25 years of experience in Food & Beverage including in Research and Development, Technical Support and Quality Assurance
Working with Irish Distillers since 2012-  in R&D for 2 years and for the last 11 years in the role of Quality Assurance Manager
Interests include Brewing & Distillation, Sensory, Cereal quality, Cereal growing and sustainability.

Secretary

Éamonn Laramie

Éamonn Laramie began his career in distilling and has worked across production, quality, and continuous improvement roles for over eight years within the Irish drinks industry. He holds a BSc in General Science (Chemistry), a Diploma in Distilling, and a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt.
 
He currently works as a Brewing Operative with Diageo at the Littleconnell brewery, where he supports brewing operations following the successful commissioning of the site. Previously, Éamonn led process optimisation and automation initiatives within distillery operations, delivering yield improvements and strengthening process control through data-driven decision making and digital transformation.
 
Éamonn has been actively involved with the Irish Section committee of the Chartered Institute of Brewing and Distilling for the past three years, contributing to events, industry engagement, and knowledge-sharing initiatives. He is passionate about supporting the continued development of members.

Treasurer

Mark Daly

Mark began his career with Irish Distillers as a finance intern during his college placement, where he gained exposure to a wide range of roles across the business. During this time, he worked in the bond, finance and micro-distillery teams, experiences that sparked a strong interest in brewing and distillation.

After completing his Business degree at Munster Technological University, he rejoined Irish Distillers in 2024 as a trainee accountant, where he continues to build on both his financial and operational understanding of the business.
