CIBD and BFBi Joint Event: Barley Trials and Tour of Maltings Tour

Join us for a joint BFBi and CIBD exclusive event!

You are invited to a sustainability tour hosted at Syngenta’s renowned long-term site at Elveden Estate. This stunning venue showcases innovative large-scale trials on various farming systems, including Spring Barley (focusing on cultivation methods), varieties, and biological treatments to assess the impact on yield, quality, and sustainability.

Closing off the day, we will then travel to Pauls Malt for a guided tour of their facilities.

  • 10:15 AM: Arrival

We kick off this event at the picturesque Elveden Estate, a perfect time to catch up with fellow BFBi members from across the industry.

  • 10:30 AM - 12:00 PM: Trial Tours

Guided tours of the site, where we will delve into this year's focus on Spring Barley. Discover how Syngenta and the Elveden Estate are integrating different cultivation methods, varieties, and biological treatments to assess their effects on yield, quality, and soil health; all while striving to meet sustainability targets and ensuring profitability.

  • 12:00 PM Onwards: Lunch & Tastings

Lunch featuring a selection of tastings, highlighting the best craft beers of Humber Doucy, including their gold medal winning Fridaystreet!

This is a wonderful opportunity to network with fellow BFBi/CIBD members over great food and great beer.

  • 2:30 PM: Tour of Pauls Malt

Concluding the day, we will take a tour of Pauls Malt. Established in 1842 by Robert Paul, this historic company has been a pillar in the malting industry, supplying high-quality ingredients to breweries and distilleries for over 80 years.

We are excited to welcome you to a day full of insightful talks, networking, and appreciation for sustainable practices in agriculture and brewing.
