White Peak Distillery – Leading the Charge for English Whisky

By the Midland Section

Thursday, January 15th 2026

17.30PM - 20.30PM

White Peak Distillery

Derwent Wire Works Matlock Rd,

Ambergate DE56 2HE

Join us for a unique opportunity to hear from Max, founder of White Peak Distillery and Board Member of English Whisky Guild (EWG), who will show us the wonderful distillery that they’ve built in the heart of England. There will be discussion on their approach to whisky-making, how they’ve incorporated local provenance and heritage, including the use of spent brewers’ yeast from their neighbours at Thornbridge Brewery. In addition, Max will share information on the EWG, its application for Geographical Indication Status and what that means for the future of English Whisky.  Wire Works whisky has just (1st November) been awarded ‘Best World Whisky’ in the 2025 Online Scottish Whisky Awards, a public vote from the whisky community, and its single malt has a growing reputation well beyond the Midlands.
