Join the CIBD Scottish Section for a two-day technical tour of production sites along the Firth of Tay, exploring malting, brewing, malt whisky, grain whisky, gin, cider, fruit wine and kombucha. The tours will be delivered by technical teams wherever possible.
This event is ideal for anyone looking to gain further exposure to brewing and distilling production sites, while developing a broader understanding of technical processes.
Schedule
Bus transport between venues is included, with collection from Dundee Train Station at 9:00am on both days.
Lunch will be provided on both days, and dinner will be provided on Thursday 6 August.
- Day 1:
- Bairds Arbroath – Malting
- Arbikie Distillery – Gin, malt whisky and grain whisky production, plus botanical farming + lunch
- Glencadam Distillery – Malt whisky production
- 71 Brewing – Beer brewing and packaging
- CANVAS Dundee – brewery taproom tasting followed by Dinner
- Final drop-off on 6th – CANVAS Dundee, DD1 5HZ at approx. 8pm
- Day 2:
- Cairn o' Mohr – Cider brewing and fruit-wine production
- Lindores Abbey Distillery – Malt whisky production and maturation + lunch
- Buddy Kombucha [presentation] – Kombucha/Alternative mixed fermentation
- Eden Mill Distillery – Malt whisky production, new make spirit development and maturation and gin production.
- Final drop-off on 7th – Dundee Train Station at approx. 7.30pm

Accommodation is not included on this trip - a list of central hotels is provided below, or collection from Dundee Train Station should allow for travel in/out if preferred.

Note:
Please note that safety boots, hi-vis clothing and hard hats are required for the maltings visit. Boots may also be required for some other site visits.
