Join BFBi and the CIBD Southern Section for an afternoon visit to RAGT’s Ickleton Head Office, just south of Cambridge, on 24th June at 2pm.
This visit will offer a valuable look at the work that takes place before planting, complementing last year’s tour by exploring the science, skill and testing involved in developing crop varieties. Attendees will have the chance to view RAGT’s demo field, including existing varieties, new varieties in development, cover crop trials and agricultural practice work.
The afternoon will also include refreshments and the opportunity to tour the breeding station, where guests can learn more about the role of the breeder, the early-stage quality testing process and the innovation that supports future supply chains.
Why you should attend:
- See Innovation in the Field – Explore demo plots featuring existing varieties and new varieties in development.
- Understand the Science – Learn more about the breeding process and the tests used to evaluate quality early in the programme.
- Go Behind the Scenes – Tour the breeding station and see the work involved before planting begins.
- Connect Agriculture and Industry – Gain insight into how variety development supports the wider brewing and beverage supply chain.
- Network Over Refreshments – Meet fellow members and industry professionals in an informal afternoon setting.
